The brief: ESET NetProtect

ESET is a top cybersecurity company with over 110 million users worldwide. They realized that just having antivirus on a laptop isn't enough to stop new online threats like phishing, scams and malware. So, they came up with the idea of ESET NetProtect, a clever way to protect all devices connected to the internet, even things like smart lamps that can't have regular antivirus. It doesn't need any software on your devices – you just click once to activate it through your internet provider, keeping everything safe.

As the only designer on the project, it was a great opportunity for me to experience the launch a of a new product from A to Z.

Fast prototyping: define the concept

I used ESET user personas and teamed up with the business analyst to define use cases and map user flows. This gave everyone an initial idea of what we were creating.

Next, I created quick prototypes of the main flows of the solution. This allowed us to focus on and improve the most essential parts while figuring out what needed fixing. We constantly adjusted things based on feedback from our team.

After a few tries, the idea began to take shape. We had a prototype that was clear enough to test with possible users and make sure our idea was good and useful.

Usability testing: validating the concept

To ensure ESET NetProtect's effectiveness and user-friendliness, extensive usability testing was conducted. We asked 5 people who used a similar product from our competitor to try our solution. They shared important thoughts about how easy it was to use, what worked well, and what could be better. Their feedback was super helpful. We used their comments to make our product better, fixing problems, and making it more comfortable and enjoyable for users

Creating a style guide

Unfortunately, there was no unified design system at ESET when I started designing the solution.

I had the chance to create a guide for typography, color schemes, iconography, illustrations, UI elements, breakpoints and branding guidelines.

I followed the implementation of the style guide from design to storybook, making sure the components where properly implemented.
